Shane B.

Shreve |  Troop 4071

Project Beneficiary: Blachleyville Cemetery

For Shane's projected, he planned to straighten, level, and wash headstones at the Blachleyville Cemetery. He did this by lifting and moving the headstone and put limestone underneath. This should keep the headstone level for years to come. IHe also straightened the rows of headstones as much as possible while leveling the headstones. The final step will be washing the headstones to polish them.

Caleb K.

Wooster  |  Troop 4061

Project Beneficiary: Friends of Hospice

Caleb's project was done in four phases. First phase was removing metal shelving from a storage area above Nest because Friends of Hospice needs the space for other things related to the business. They would like the shelves taken to recycling and then, in keeping with their mission, will donate the money to LifeCare Hospice of Wayne County. Second phase was weeding the tree lawns in the parking lot behind nest and getting those spaces ready for the business to put down rocks, as will be more manageable for them to maintain. Third phase was painting parking space lines and repainting the parking stoppers in the parking lots behind Nest and Friendtique. Fourth phase was to build two flower pots to match the two currently outside the doors of Friendtique.

Zane K.

Wooster  |  Troop 4071

Project Beneficiary: Wayne County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League

Zane's project was to build a new fire pit for the Wayne County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. He removed the existing fire pit, which was mostly just rocks, and then dug a hole about 1 foot deep. The hole was deep enough to pour gravel in, and lay the pavers on top, roughly 8 inches deep.

Drew L.

Wooster  |  Troop 4061

Project Beneficiary: Chestnut Hill Cemetery

Drew assembled a memorial garden to make a place of serene remembrance. A place to mourn loved ones and heal or enjoy time with loved ones without the worry of day to day responsibilities. A place to remember lives lost or simply sit calmly and discuss our lives. Drew planted non invasive perennials and evergreens so it will not be high maintenance. He also put stepping stones or a path to make it more accessible as well as providing a composite bench for a place to sit that won't degrade over time.

Jack R.

Wooster  | Troop 4063

Project Beneficiary: Wooster Memorial Park

Jack built a baseball equipment shed at the Little League fields he played at when he was younger. He purposely built this shed next to the younger team's baseball fields, as the players and coaches have a long walk to the other equipment shed at the baseball park. The project  included buying the materials for a shed, constructing it, and working with the baseball organization. After it is done, the baseball leaders can place tools, supplies, and baseballs inside to help all the kids who play there. This will improve the quality of the games for the kids and coaches.

Also, it will reduce the amount of equipment and supplies in the main baseball shed freeing up space to move around and making room for the other items the baseball league might want to store there.  Also, this will speed up the time it takes to get the Tee Ball and Coach Pitch games when there are multiple games happening on a night.  Finally, the shed will offer better protection from some of the temporary structures that have been tried in the past.  The previous attempts were small, plastic sheds.  The shed I plan to build will be steel and should last for many years.
