Gavin A.
Bellville | Troop 7126
Project Beneficiary: Gorman Nature Center
Gavin's project involved replacing a deteriorating bridge at the Richland County Park District’s Gorman Nature Center. The original bridge was not only too narrow for maintenance equipment but was also becoming unsafe for visitors. His volunteer work at the nature center and firsthand awareness of the need for a new bridge inspired him to take on this initiative. The new bridge is now much safer for visitors and allows maintenance equipment to cross with ease, benefiting all who visit and ensuring more efficient upkeep of the grounds.

John C.
Bellville | Troop 7126
Project Beneficiary: Village of Bellville
John installed two life rings on the ponds at Palm Park in Bellville, Ohio, enhancing water safety for park visitors. In addition to this, he cleaned a 1/4-mile section of the Troop 126 public hiking trail, improving accessibility and maintaining the natural beauty of the area.

Oliver C.
Mansfield | Troop 7170
Project Beneficiary: Mansfield Christian School
Oliver constructed a kickwall for the soccer program at Mansfield Christian, providing players with a durable training tool. The 10-foot-tall, 24-foot-long structure was built from wood, securely screwed together, and cemented into the ground for stability. Designed to be two-sided, the kickwall allowed multiple players to use it simultaneously, enhancing practice sessions and skill development for the team.

Landon H.
Mansfield | Troop 7138
Project Beneficiary: Gorman Nature Center
Landon built a Little Free Library along the bike trail, providing a "take a book, leave a book" system that allowed people to exchange books freely. His project encouraged literacy and community engagement, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy reading while on the trail.

Grant K.
Mansfield | Troop 7126
Project Beneficiary: Nature Preserve
Grant repurposed a former bathroom structure at a Scouts BSA camp into a hiking trail kiosk, providing a functional and educational space for visitors. His project included installing benches, a platform, and an open structure, allowing the beneficiary to use the area for educational opportunities and outdoor learning experiences.

Wyatt P.
Mansfield | Troop 7170
Project Beneficiary: Gorman Nature Center
Wyatt built four 8-foot wooden picnic tables for the Gorman Nature Center, enhancing the park’s pavilion area. His project provided visitors with a dedicated space to sit, relax, and enjoy picnics while appreciating the natural surroundings.

Wyatt R.
Mansfield | Troop 7170
Project Beneficiary: Gorman Nature Center
Wyatt took the initiative to clear overgrown brush and vegetation to make way for the construction of a new footbridge along a pre-existing walking path at the Gorman Nature Center. This bridge will provide a much-needed solution to a recurring issue—flooding after heavy rains—which often forces the temporary closure of the trail. By allowing water to flow freely beneath it, the bridge will help maintain accessibility, ensuring that visitors can continue enjoying the trail regardless of recent weather conditions. This improvement enhances the overall experience for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and the local community, making the path more reliable and usable throughout the year.

Madison S.
Mansfield | Troop 7138
Project Beneficiary: Richland Rural Life Center
Three recycling bins were built by Madison for the Richland Rural Life Center to help reduce the amount of waste being sent to dumpsters and ultimately the landfill. The need for these bins became evident during events, where Madison observed that all trash was being discarded, despite a significant portion being recyclable. Her project aims to promote sustainability and encourage proper waste management within the community.

Brandon W.
Ontario | Troop 7521
Project Beneficiary: Ohio Bird Sanctuary
Brandon built and replaced a bridge on the walking path at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary in Mansfield, Ohio. The existing bridge was old and deteriorating, making it unsafe for visitors. Brandon constructed a new, similar bridge but improved its design by adding a handrail, enhancing safety and accessibility for those using the trail.
