Nicholas G.

North Canton  |  Troop 1001

Project Beneficiary: North Canton Chapel

For my project, I built eight Bible Study Benches for the student ministry of The North Canton Chapel to use outside. The students didn’t have any seating for the Wednesday night youth groups or Sunday church services. The benches I built were flip-top and could be used for regular seating, table seating, or even a picnic table when two were put together. It was amazing seeing them being used the very next day at church for Bible study and prayer groups. Our entire church benefitted from them as well when we had an outdoor night of worship in October. We moved them together on campus for everyone to enjoy!

Project Beneficiary:  Raptor Hollow Sanctuary

To become an Eagle Scout, Cole built two bird enclosures for Raptor Hallow Sanctuary. He cleared and continued a trail, designed & developed plans for the enclosures, raised finances to purchase the necessary materials, and finally with the help of his troop and family members built two large bird enclosures currently home to a red tailed hawk and a red shouldered hawk. The inspiration for this project and location came from his troop volunteering at Beech Creek annually. Cole

Honorabel.png

Cole has grown very fond of their understanding of nature and the outdoors. When he reached out to Raptor Hallow he knew right away he wanted to be a part of providing shelter to the animals who could no longer be released into the wild due to injuries. It benefitted Raptor Hallow, education, and the animals that will be able to use the enclosures.

They are requesting a more natural habitat though. The zoo is asking for the pools to be filled with rock, mulch, wood and soil along with a very fine screen, making a French Drain. This will allow the Mara the opportunity to dig in the habitat and not be affected by the material that is used that can possibly harm them. The zoo will be installing a "doggie door" for the Mara after the project is finished.

Ella P.

Uniontown  |  Troop 1111

Project Beneficiary: Akron YMCA-Camp Y Noah & Rotary Camp

Ella, who grew up attending Akron Area YMCA- Camp Y-Noah and is a volunteer at Akron YMCA Rotary Camp, chose to create a Word Wall for each camp location. The purpose of these word walls is to be used with leadership development at Camp Y-Noah and assist campers with Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and as a fun activity for campers and staff at Rotary Camp.Ella explained “I grew up in the world of just because someone speaks differently, uses a wheelchair, or has

autism doesn’t mean they are not people. Growing up, my mom introduced my brother and I to this world and it made a difference in my life. It helped teach me to look at things from the points of view of people who do things differently than I do. I wanted to put something into the world that shows that individuals who communicate differently or individuals who need a little bit of extra help sometimes, can do things just like me. These individuals do things differently than what people around the world consider normal.” The word walls were also designed to be a place where campers can create statements about their camping experiences.

Landon R.

Massillon  |  Troop 1933

Project Beneficiary: Save A Mom

My project was developing an organizational system, making signs, and decorating the adoption rooms for the non profit organization Save a Mom, located in East Sparta, Ohio.  The mission of the organization is to provide a safe place where pounds and shelters can send their pregnant dogs, newly whelped litters, and orphan puppies.  The dogs are spayed, neutered, given proper nutrition and vet care, and found a loving forever home and family. The project included cleaning the storage room of the adoption center for Save a Mom and reorganizing supplies and

onations in a neat and orderly fashion.  The supplies and donations were unorganized and spread throughout two rooms, covering much of the floor space, which did not allow individuals to walk comfortably in the room and find what they were looking for easily.  The items were consolidated in an orderly fashion, so that it frees up the other room to use as an adoption visiting room.  Then, when the adoption visiting room was emptied out, I cleaned and “refreshed” it, in addition to the other visiting room, by adding two new chairs and a small table to allow those who are looking at adoption to have a nice seating area in which to visit the potential adoptable dog(s).  I also hung artwork on the walls to make the rooms “homey”.  In addition, I made a sign for the different, collars, leases, and harnesses in the lobby explaining what they are and a price list.

There is a stone bench and cross commerating the 175th year of the church. This area was created in 2013. Over the years the brick work surrounding the stone bench and cross has become uneven. The center area will be leveled by a stomping tool. The red bricks will be arranged. My plan is to see if the 2 spot lights will be able to be fixed (they shine on the stone cross). Project Beneficiary: Hartville Migrant Ministry

Britton created a vacation bible school for the children of migrants in the Hartville Migrant Center. The program will be created so that it runs on a three year cycle (Year A, Year B, and Year C curriculum), year A being repeated on year four, etc. The different years would have themes and each theme would be unique to that year. It would be created so that there can be multiple, separate age groups that participate separately. Since these children speak Spanish as their first language, I will incorporate some Spanish into the lesson. Most of them spear English, but they

speak and understand Spanish better. For the first year, Britton and some of his Scouting friends ran the school and I will create the curriculum for the following years. Britton created all activities as well as the readings, instructions/materials, and directions for how to run the activities.
